Description
Check difficulty status this weekend
The resurrection mining brought Homestead difficulty down from 62.38 TH to 1.26 GH (99.998% reduction) as of Jan 29. The target is ~46 MH for CPU-mineable levels.
What to check
- Current block number and difficulty — connect to the chain-of-geths v1.3.6 node and query:
eth.getBlock(eth.blockNumber).difficulty eth.blockNumber - Is difficulty still dropping? — with the GPU miner stopped, the ice age / difficulty bomb should still be increasing block times, but no new blocks means difficulty is frozen at whatever the last mined block was.
- Are any blocks being mined? — check if block number has advanced since Jan 29 (block 1,920,944).
- Is the chain accessible? — verify the chain-of-geths stack is still running and v1.3.6 is synced.
Context
- Last known: Block 1,920,944, difficulty 1.26 GH
- Target: ~46 MH (CPU-mineable)
- Mining was done on 8x RTX 3090 (~846 MH/s)
- Difficulty only drops when new blocks are mined with large timestamp gaps (Homestead EIP-2 algorithm reduces by ~4.83% per block with 1000s gaps)
Update resurrection README
If there's new data, update resurrection/README.md with the latest block/difficulty figures.
