Lwidget v1.8 Release Notes

• 📦 Note: v1.8 is currently available exclusively through the Play Store Closed Beta. The GitHub APK release will follow once the testing period is complete.

Join in 2 steps:

• 1. Join our Google Group: lwidget-beta-testers (your email is hidden by default)
• 2. Become a Tester & Install: Click here to opt-in, then install from Play Store.
     (Playstore Download link wont work if you are not joined in google group or not opt in as tester)

• Important: Since Lwidget is a widget, please open the main app every few days so Google counts you as an active tester!

🚀 New Features

• Step Counter: Track your daily steps directly from the widget, powered by a lightweight foreground service.
• Dynamic Theme Colors: Full Material You dynamic color support — widget colors adapt to your wallpaper automatically.
• Expanded Widget Items: More dashboard items can now be displayed simultaneously on the widget.
• Smarter Calendar Events: Events longer than a week now display as a date.
• Interactive Events: Click on any event to directly open the event in your calendar app.

🎨 UI & Layout Improvements

• Fixed Margins & Padding: Consistent spacing across all widget styles — no more misaligned elements.
• Uniform Top Margins: All widget items now have consistent vertical alignment.
• Maximum Size Limits: Max size adjusted, Sensible size caps prevent widget items from overlapping.

⚡ Performance & Reliability

• Optimized Widget Updates: Smarter update logic reduces unnecessary refreshes and saves battery.
• Widget Update Worker: Background updates via WorkManager for more reliable data refresh.
• Foreground Service: Step counter runs as a proper foreground service with notification for Android 14+ compliance.
• Target SDK 35: Updated to the latest Android SDK for compatibility and Play Store compliance.

🐛 Bug Fixes

• Fixed permission handling for Activity Recognition on Android 14+.
• Resolved crash when ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission is revoked by the system.
• Cleaned up unused drawable and color resources.
