This repository contains the scripts necessary to reproduce the surface brightness analysis of the XMM-Newton and Chandra data of the PSZ2 G181.06+48.47 cluster from the paper PSZ2 G181.06+48.47 I: X-ray exploration of a low-mass cluster with exceptionally-distant radio relics (Stroe et al. 2025). The code to produce a range of unsharp masked and GGM filtered images is included, which served as a first pass in detecting the locations of possible discontinuities. This was followed by a surface brightness analysis using pyproffit, where power-law, broken power-law and beta models are fit to a range of sectors. This repository can be seen as a tutorial and could be used as a starting point for analyses of other galaxy cluster datasets.
